Art Group Challenges

I joined an art “working” group and these are challenges and collaborations among members. The Photo Artistry Working Group is an extension of the Photoshop Artistry training of the AWAKE and KAIZEN communities.

“Blissfully Unaware” – I went Halloween on the challenge. I used all photos taken on our property to illustrate a path to my husband’s workshop by day and night. The ‘arms’ are part of our yard art (Patrick’s idea). My sister gave them to us when she no longer needed them for jewelry display. They actually rest on trees on the other side of the path. Created in Affinity.

The challenge was to create an image having anything to do with Dolly Parton, which was a little tough as I don’t know much about her music. I wanted to honor her philanthropic Imagination Library using a song title and saw “Little Sparrow.” I found out it’s a sad song but, in my version, the sparrow brings happiness. The sparrow delivers books to the children and Dolly is symbolized as the dove.

I happened to have some children’s books, courtesy of my brother, and I used the last one in his “Sailor Joe” series. The other is from my dear friend who passed last year of some of her paintings and poems that I cherish. The background is from The Daily Texture and the rest are stock images. Created in Affinity.

“The Raven”

This challenge was different, in that all participants could use whatever elements they wanted to create a piece relating to Edgar Allan Poe’s, “The Raven.” I pulled mainly from the last two verses for this one, when he willed the bird gone, borrowing the book from the first one, personifying Lenore, and incorporating the purple and violet mentioned in the decor. My photo of the raven for the shadow, others are stock.

“Modern Witch”

The “Modern Witch” balances nature with technology and ancient wisdom. Another piece created with images chosen by the members.

“Sanctuary”

We each submitted an image to incorporate into the piece and we could use only those images. I chose to composite them for “Sanctuary.”
