The Artist

Hello. I am Vicki (Howard) Ardoin, digital artist.  My parents had eight children in the 50s and 60s; I am the eldest (’53).  We moved a lot when I was growing up, mostly in Southern California. After settling in Texas, I met my husband, Patrick, who is from Evangeline Parish in Louisiana, and we married in 1979. I have no children of my own, but his daughter has a family and we have a granddaughter.

I can play several musical instruments by ear but never thought of myself as a visual artist.

It wasn’t until late in my administrative career that I discovered artistic programs for the computer.  I now had a medium for producing visual art and combining photos with graphic elements for presentations and the company Web site.

Wanting to pursue a more artistic path, I retired a few years later and started a small graphics design venture.  My sister encouraged me to sell keepsakes that I had been making for family and friends with their photos and personal messages.  Patrick dubbed them “Emotional Displays” for the reactions they received.

He retired and we moved to the Texas Hill Country, near San Marcos.  Fast-forward a few years—I picked up photography as a hobby and am creating art again!  I belong to the incredible AWAKE and KAIZEN photo-artistry communities, and have been published in their international magazine, “Living the Photo Artistic Life.”

I also write Haiku to complement my art. These works are my thoughts and expression and bring me joy that I hope to share with you. Feel free to get in touch if you want to make a purchase or have a project you would like to discuss.
